OPPORTUNITIES

DFW’s top areas of interest are:

  • Planning for Vehicle and Roadway Automation – NCTCOG request for proposals for regional planning exercise to prepare for connected and automated vehicle technologies in North Texas.
  • Advanced Traffic Operations Technologies – Connected signals, advanced timing and detection, CV2I.
  • Automated People-Mover Technologies – Developing sub-regional automated people-mover (shuttle) deployments.
TOP CHALLENGES

Team North Texas envisions a place where innovative transportation technologies can be introduced, tested, and deployed in various conditions to serve a range of mobility needs for a wide variety of users. To this end, we are developing creative solutions to address the following challenges:

  • Road Safety– Improving roadway safety and operations through use of emerging data resources (open source and connected vehicle data), and through increasing vehicle and infrastructure automation.
  • Connect Vehicle Deployment – Identifying and testing connected vehicle technology and infrastructure.
  • Integrating New Mobility with Traditional Procedures – Integrating the costs and benefits of new transportation technologies into existing practices of alternatives analysis.
  • Enabling Low-Speed AV Deployments – Land-use and street design practices that make low-speed AV deployments difficult and create hazards for non-vehicle roadway users.
