Panel: The Intersection of Transportation & Equity

John-Michael served eight years at Capital Metro in roles focusing on community involvement as well as business and community development. He led participatory planning and outreach efforts for Project Connect, the Austin area regional transit system. This effort included efforts to engage government agency partners and gather diverse stakeholders throughout central Texas for the regional transit vision and develop two associated planning projects to implement that vision. Afterwards, John-Michael spent five years with the City of Austin serving as Chief of Staff and as Special Assistant to the Mayor. In these roles he advised on political issues involving transportation, land use, housing, infrastructure, workforce development, education, and intergovernmental regulations. He also successfully led the development of Austin’s largest ever mobility bond proposition. John-Michael is currently employed at Google Fiber in the role of Government and Community Affairs Manager, serving the Austin-San Antonio areas.
